Just like the sky turns dark during winter, everyone has dark and bright days. Here I am about to share my pain behind the happy looking face. Life was good until you were thrown under the monstruous stone which you need to carry lifelong. Everyone has one or other health related ailment and it may not be a big deal. Still, I would like to share my life with RA with an intention it will help at least one person who is suffering.
Life is never a cake walk
When I was working in TCS, Hyderabad, I was diagnosed with IBS which is the root cause of all my health issues. So, one should always make sure their gut health is good. If stomach is taken care, rest all will be fine. Why will anyone get IBS? Simple answer would be stress related to work pressure. This was the reason I resigned my Job, a dream of my parents.
I worked in IT industry for 6 years. As my health problems kept mounting and not decreasing even after shifting to different domains, I had to take a decision to resign and look for other career options with help of my spouse.
In 2019 I came to know I have a borderline Arthritis, which is not serious. The Doctor never took it seriously. He gave some vitamin supplements and advised me to do small exercises. After delivery, my symptoms worsened due to hormonal treatment as each individual’s body react in different ways.
Life with RA
Getting up from bed became a nightmare. I can’t move the body for half hour, sometimes one hour. There were days I would cry unable to bear the pain. There were days I was scared to sleep thinking about morning pains. My entire spinal would hurt, including the elbows.
Hell is small word to describe the pain I experienced. Highlights in my problem- I was a new mother and I had to nurse the baby. Now she is a toddler, sometimes she understands when my spouse explains her.
Until 2023 August I was not aware of the seriousness of this health issue. I initially thought it is a side effects of C-section delivery. Even after one year my pains were not getting any better and it got me concerned. After getting myself checked with Orthopedic, I came to know the problem.
Support and Hope
During this time support from family plays a vital role. There were days I struggled with lack of empathy towards me from others. I am desperately waiting for my spouse to understood my problem, which I require during this phase of life.
Family support during this phase of life is very important. I am unlucky in this. Also, hope and assurance that I will be better with the treatments, these two thoughts are helping me to recover.
Treatment and Lifestyle
The Major medicine I used is pain relief tablets, Arthritis medicine and some vitamins. Most stressful part is the blood test done once in every three or six months to check the inflammation levels in the body.
Good Food – A healthy balanced diet
Good exercise – It can be any small exercises, walking
Goodnight sleep – Good rest is very important to anyone
Stress-free life – Highly impossible in current society, only way to control is meditation and some relaxing breathing techniques early in the morning.
