DNA Analysis
In 2003, a group of paleontologists discovered a fossil of T. rex with a small amount of soft tissue still intact. This tissue provided insights into the evolution of life on Earth after the extinction of the dinosaurs. Later, they started comparing the extracted DNA with 21 modern species of bird’s bingo, chicken matched around 60 to 70 percent. So, it declared chickens are the living closest relatives to T. Dinosaurs.
Is there any bird related to T.rex apart from the Chicken? Yes, T. Rex dinosaurs belong to the Tyrannosaurus species. Two bird species have a similar kind of protein found in the Tyrannosaurus rex: the chicken and the Ostrich.
This is how life finds its way; it’s a part of evolution. We humans evolved from the apes and modern chimpanzees. Similarly, after dinosaurs went extinct, life found a way and evolved in the bird’s today’s chickens.
66 million years ago Dinosaurs didn’t just become extinct because of asteroid; numerous factors involved like the climate change, volcanic activities and asteroid impact on Earth all these together made the largest species on Earth go extinct.
