Dear readers, welcome back to the new series of mysteries of deep waters. This article will blow your mind with the mystery which remains as a puzzle till date.
Some people who are familiar with the bioluminescent cause may think nah! I already know about the reason why water glow in the night. Then, you are mistaken as this is not about the normal bioluminescent cause which people see in the Florida and California beaches some times.
Feels interesting? Then without further ado, we go on a deep water expedition of milk ocean.
Little we know about ourselves and the Planet Earth we are living in.
by anonymous(me) 😉

Scientist across the globe have better knowledge about the unknown space which is fascinating human race from many centuries. Unfortunately, minimal knowledge we have about the waters that covers 71% of the earth.
Location of the Milk ocean
This beautifully glowing waters is located in the Indian Ocean. Do you believe it? Nevertheless, the exact location is near the coast of the Somalia in the Africa.

If you are planning on going on a voyage to the Milk ocean, a rare and natural phenomenon happening on earth, then put a break to your thoughts and read further.
This satellite image was taken from 2005, not the present day image. The ocean doesn’t glow daily to visit and have the spectacular view of this sad right :(.
Why it is called as the Milk ocean
The image which Senior scientist Dr. Miller collected from the low atmosphere satellite looks like white in color. Besides this, the Captain who saw this magnificent phenomenon also described as milky waters. He mentioned he never seen waters as white as this anywhere.
The waters are glowing continuously, covering a large area by illuminating the entire place which one can see from far, even from the space Satellite. Interesting right? But it may seem creepy at the same time.
Imagine you are sailing a ship and you entered waters which is glowing from horizon to horizon covered in white color. In the dark night, in the middle of the ocean water beneath, your ship is glowing giving you thrilling at same time spine chilling vision.
Mystery behind the Glow of the ocean waters
To know this, you need to know about the author Jules Verne’s who is from 18th century. He wrote a book “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea“.
The book was published in 1870, in that he gives a description about the Milky sea. It is fictional Novel but the data mentioned in the book look like it is written based on the real reports collected.
Next, there were few vessels which reported sighting this marvelous event in the ocean waters. Once in the 1864, Captain Raphael Semmes reported stating that water’s nature changed and it is glowing and they thought this is due to sea monsters or mermaids. The captain and team were terrified due to lack of knowledge.
In 1995, a Steamship Lima which was sailing in the coast of Somalia, sighted this spectacular view. The captain of the ship Lima reported they saw a luminous light after 15 minutes they were welcomed by a white snow water covering from horizon to horizon.
Steven Miller, a scientist, went through the satellite image of the mentioned date of the Captain Lima and to his astonishment he indeed saw smudges.
Why it is not bioluminescent bacterial cause
Many reports contrast bioluminescent bacterial cause. Because, these bacteria in general illuminates if they are disturbed or to protect themselves from the danger. When comes to milk ocean, according to the captain Lima, he saw the luminous light from far in a still water.
This water continues to illuminate for the entire night and the area they mentioned is equal to present Connecticut. So it is impossible for such a huge amount of bioluminescent bacterial cause as the number will blow your mind.
If it is the bioluminescent bacteria cause, then as per the area it is glowing 100,000 square kilometres. Trillion of the bacteria needs to glow in order to produce such a light in such a large distance.
In simple words it is not possible, as the entire sea has to be covered with glowing bacteria to illuminate without disturbing them.
Hence, scientist are not sure about bacterial cause for the glowing of the milk ocean. They are closely monitoring using Day/Night band as it occur once in a while in a not much explored ocean waters.
Kshira Sagara Madhanam

People of India when they hear about the Milk ocean, the first thought that comes to the mind is Kshira Sagara Madhanam. Where Devas (Demi Gods) and Asuras (Demons) churn the ocean for thousands of years to get Amrutha(Nector of immortality).
Is this the very place where the ocean churn took place? If so why the water illuminates only few nights? Scientist estimates the ocean illuminates yearly three times. Few things remain mystery forever, hope soon we come to know the reason behind it.
