Few years back when we were new to Chennai, on one weekend evening, we decided to explore Marina Beach, Asia largest beach. In Chennai there are 5 beaches in total and we visited 3 of them. Among these my favorite beach is VGP golden beach.

VGP golden beach is not crowded as it is scheduled beach. Only people who visit VGP resort or VGP Universal Kingdom can access it. But unfortunately when I visited the beach, it was afternoon and couldn’t spend much time there due to scorching heat.

Another beach we visited numerous time is Elliot’s Beach. A place where numerous movies were shot in various languages. It is the end point of Marina Beach and here one can see Karl Schmidt memorial, Dutch sailor who happen to save others and lost his life in the process.
My visit to Marina Beach

When I first reached the beach after a long time, I was excited with happiness. The view of the beach from the main road made my day. With joy and exictment I started towards the vast waters of Bay of Bengal.
My favorite part in Marina Beach is that Beach road and its awesome view. The statues of Gandhi and other famous personals on the pavement which are mostly busy with evening walkers is a beautiful sight.
My husband and I decided not to get into water as it is fully polluted beside that dress will be drenched.
Our opinion changed once we entered the waters as these waters holds magic. It will make you forget all your worries and make you play like small kid. It brings out the kid in you. We had excellent time playing in the cool salty waters of Marina.
A moment to remember

When the Sun was setting in the horizon, the Sky turned into pinkish orange color. The touch of gentle cool evening breeze, along with cool ocean water touching your legs. The comfortable silence which we experience even though surrounded by people is an excellent moment which I would like to cherish.
Things to do at Marina Beach
There are not much to do in Marina apart from playing sea waters and relaxing on the sand. Besides this there are numerous stalls for both eating and shopping. We had freshly roasted corn along with pinch of salt and chilly powder.
Horse ride is available, if you like to break the stereotypical way of spending in beach go for horse ride and have fun.
Near by places to Visit
Vivekananda House the place which I always wanted to visit, a pleasant and excellent place of Meditation. In fact, here ever Saturday evening they conduct free meditation classes for all.
Connemara Library A amazing place for book lovers and architecture lovers. “A pride of Chennai”. Want to spend quality time alone while reading book without any disturbance? Then this place is for you.
Victory War Memorial, M.G.R. Memorial If you like to spend time by knowing great personalities, visit the Memorials at the Marina Beach road.
I had a great time visiting the Marina beach along with my husband. He also had a good time since he is a beach person. If you are located near the coastal belt, I recommend you to visit beach on a regular basis.
Visiting beach regularly help alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost energy. Sea water carry high amount of negative ions which enters our blood stream through air and produce a chemical called Serotonin, helping to elevate the mood.
Beautiful pics and good blog. Being a resident of Chennai, the blog gives refreshing memories of before pandemic times
Always a go-to place for me when I think things arenβt going my way. A well-written article about the beach.
