Stories of Lord Ganesh
Lord Vishnu’s Conch

A beautiful story which depicts the funny and childish side of Lord Ganesh.
The Lord of universe, Vishnu, resides in Vaikuntam, have four arms and each arm holds one item viz. Lotus, Conch, Sudarashan Chakra and a Mace. Lord’s four arms always hold these four items.
One day Conch happens to be missing, Lord was very annoyed. He started to search for the conch and used his mystic powers as well to find his conch.
But he couldn’t find it any where. Lord Vishnu suddenly heared his Conch sound from far as he concentrated on the sound he came to know it coming from Mount Kailash.
Without further delay, he set to Mount Kailash. After reaching the mountain, Lord Saw Ganesh playing with Conch by blowing it. Lord Vishnu asked Ganesh to return his conch in sweet way but Ganesh was reluctant to give it back to Lord Vishnu.
Later Lord Vishnu asked Shiva to ask Ganesh to return his Conch. Lord Shiva Replied “I too can’t make him return it but there is way, perform a puja to Ganesh and he will return”. As per Lord Shiva’s words, Lord Vishnu Performs a Puja to Lord Ganesha wholeheartedly. Seeing this Ganesh returns Lord Vishnu’s Conch back.
Pride of Kubera

Lord of wealth once become extremely proud about his amass wealth and fortune. One day he decided to host a feast for all, so he invited his friend and master, Lord Shiva. The Cosmic couple Shiva and Parvathi Devi as they couldn’t attend the feast sent Ganesh as their representative.
Lord Ganesh who attended the feast observed the pride of Kubera. He thought of teaching him a lesson and ate all the food prepared for the guests, yet he was hungry. As Lord Ganesh was still hungry he even started eating the wealth of Kubera.
Even after eating all the wealth and food, Ganesh’s hunger was not subsided. He thought of eating Kubera. Kubera who got frightened ran to Mount Kalish and requested Lord Shiva to save him.
Lord Shiva who understood the situation gave one bowl of cereal to Lord Ganesh. He ate that bowl and was satisfied with it. Later Kubera understood his mistake and distributes his wealth to others.
Milk Kheer
Once Lord Ganesh disguised himself as a boy and entered a village with a small quantity of rice in one hand where as a small quantity milk in another one.
He asked everyone to help him in making a Kheer from the available rice and milk with him. Few who thought they couldn’t make kheer with such low quantity rejected where as few others were busy.
A poor women who heard his request agreed to help him. He gave her the rice and milk for the Kheer preparation. She fell asleep after mixing and keeping the rice and milk for cooking.
The kheer cooked she woke up to the delicious smell coming from the kheer. The boy didn’t return for long time. She was very hungry and couldn’t resist the hunger.
So she took a bowl and kept some Kheer for Lord Ganesh and then She started eating the remaining Kheer. Though she eats her stomach’s content, the pot doesn’t empty.
When he returns back, the lady offers the Kheer and also confesses she couldn’t resist the Kheer and ate it before him. With a smile Lord replies” I ate it when you offered it to Lord Ganesh”.
Upon realizing the boy is none other than Lord Ganesh, she fell on to his feet and begged for forgiveness. Pleased by her devotion, Lord Ganesh blesses her with wealth and health.
Playing with Cat

Ganesh, was very mischievous child and used to do many naughty things. One day in Kalish, Lord Ganesh goes out for playing and he came across a cat. He started playing with it by pulling its tail and pushing it on the ground like a innocent child who doesn’t know how his action hurt the animal.
Even though the cat was crying in pain, Ganesh was thinking it as a play. He played with it and once he was tried he thought of returning to home.
After reaching home he was stunned to see his mother covered with wounds. He approached her and asked what happened to her and who caused the wounds?
Having questioned by Ganesh, She replies” Cat is my form, I came in the form of a cat to play with you. But you unknowingly caused me wounds”.
Ganesh, felt sorry for his behavior and decided to never harm any animals there after.
Ganesh’s broken Tusk

They are many stories when it comes to Lord Ganesh broken Tusk. One of the popular story is when Veda Vyasa Maharishi decided to write the Mahabharata. He though who would be the right person for this. Then he decided Lord Ganesh is the right one to write such a great epic which has deep knowledge in it.
He approaches Lord Ganesh and request to write the great Epic and the Lord accepts to write but keeps a condition. Vyasa Maharishi shouldn’t stop narration until the end of the story.
Veda Vyasa Maharishi thought for some time and accepted it and also said Lord Ganesh should understand each verse before writing. Lord agreed to it and on the auspicious day they started writing Mahabharata.
While writing the story, Vyasa Maharishi used to say verse in a twisted way so that he get time to have break while Ganesh understand what he said. During such time the quill which Lord was using to write Mahabharata broke.
To continue his work without break Lord Ganesh breaks his Tusk and start writing the great Epic. Thus, Lord Ganesh and Veda Vyasa Maharishi Completed Great Epic Mahabarth without interruptions.
